PLYMOUTH RAIDERS II - TEAM INFORMATION

Raiders II play in England Basketball's Men's National League Division 2. The league is highly competitive, and the 08/09 Season should be even more so. With teams such as Leeds Carnegie, London Met and Colchester being promoted from a very strong Division 3, and with teams like Team Northumbria having performed well last year, the league will be tough.

Raiders II were formed 5 years ago, to form a bridge between the junior teams and the BBL team. In our first year, we won Division 3 South and were quickly promoted. In our first year in Division 2, we made the play offs and came out with a very credible league position. Two seasons ago,we made the decision to focus entirely on giving our younger players an opportunity to play and develop. Results were up and down throughout the season, but we secured Division 2 survival, and flirted with relegation towards the end of last season, but again secured Division 2 status.

A change in coach, together with a number of new players over the summer has seen hopes for this season grow substantially. We are still determined to use the team to provide younger players with opportunities to play at a high level however.

The team plays the majority of it's home games prior to Raiders BBL games at the Plymouth Pavilions. However, on occasion this might not be possible and they will then play their games at the YMCA Kitto Centre.
