PLYMOUTH RAIDERS WOMEN - TEAM INFORMATION

We're very excited this season to add a senior women's team to the programme. The Plymouth Racers have been playing national league basketball and representing the city for a long time, but have decided to take us up on the offer of becoming part of the Raiders from this summer onwards. Long serving player coach, Julie Pinch retired from basketball at the end of last season and it seemed the time was right for the team to look for a different direction.

Christie Robinson, a player for the old Racers team since she was a junior, has taken on the coaching role this season, and the team is starting to come together. We've had significant interest from players both in and out of the city.

We have already committed ourselves to running teams for under 16 year old girls and under 18s in the national league next season, and we'll also be starting an under 14 girls training squad. But it means that in just a few months, Raiders have moved from having no female teams at all, to having four, and looking to seriously develop female basketball in Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.

The team will play their home games at the YMCA Kitto Centre, and are currently preparing for a tournament in Finland in August this year. They will travel with Raiders II to the tournament, which will hopefully give everyone a great start to the 07/08 season.
